50 injured as police disperse protesters
AMRITSAR,
MARCH 29.
Nearly 50 persons, including the city Superintendent of Police, were injured in a melee when police fired in the air to disperse farmers squatting on the rail-track at Manavala, near here, protesting the alleged failure of the State Government to fulfil their demands.
The blockade halted train movement on the Amritsar-Delhi mainline section for sometime. The Amritsar SP, P.K. Roy, was among some police personnel injured, a senior police officer told reporters. PTI
