Two youths drowned in tank at Kengeri

BANGALORE, MARCH 29. Two youths drowned in a tank in Kengeri police station limits on Sunday evening.

The police said Uday Kumar (20) and Naveen Kumar (21) of Sonnenahalli, who had gone for a swim, drowned in the tank in Gandhinagar in Kengeri Satellite Town. Their bodies were removed from the tank on Monday morning.

Woman dies of burns: A woman, who was set on fire, allegedly by her great-grandfather on March 18, died at Victoria Hospital on Sunday.

The police said Ammi (20), wife of Devaraj of B. Narayanapura village in Mahadevapura police station limits, was admitted to the hospital with severe burns on March 18. She was unconscious. On March 23, she regained consciousness and reportedly gave a statement that her great-grandfather, Annayappa (75), had allegedly set her on fire at their house in B. Narayanapura. The Mahadevapura police have taken up a case of murder.

Boy drinks acid: A four-year-old boy, who drank acid mistaking it for water, died in J.J. Nagar police station limits on Monday.

The police Niyamath Pasha had gone along with mother, Rigana, to a jewellery shop on Sunday evening. While his mother was looking at the jewellery on display, the boy drank acid and was taken to the Victoria Hospital. But he could not be saved.

Two arrested on murder charge: The K.P. Agrahara police on Monday arrested Shyam (35) and Palani (37), both from Anekal village, on the charge of murdering Palani of Nagamma Nagar. Palani was found dead on Magadi Road in the K.P. Agrahara police limits on March 21.

Chains snatched: A gold chain worth Rs. 25,000 was snatched from Puttamma (55), who was sleeping near a window in her house at Konanakunte. The incident occurred around 2.30 a.m. on Monday, the police said.

In an incident reported from the Yeshwantpur police station limits on Sunday night, a man entered a house in LIC Colony and snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 7,000 from a woman.

Two-wheelers recovered: The Madivala police on March 25 arrested two youths from Tamil Nadu on charges of vehicle theft and recovered from them 24 two-wheelers worth Rs. 8.40 lakh.

The police gave the names of the persons arrested as Govindaraj alias Kanda (22) and Sathyashivan (19) from Tirupathur in Tamil Nadu. The police said that the accused had allegedly stolen the vehicles from the Madivala, Upparpet, Cottonpet, Chickpet, Ulsoor Gate, and Banasvadi police station limits in Bangalore using fake keys.

Sandalwood oil seized: The staff of the CID Forest Cell on Sunday arrested a man and recovered from him 1.6 kg. of sandalwood oil worth Rs. 1.30 lakh. The police identified him as Sagainandan of Ammasandra in the HAL police station limits. The police seized a motorcycle from the accused.
