Letters to the Editor
Sir, The phenomenal success of the visit of Parliamentarians, literati, business groups, film personalities and sportspersons to Pakistan in recent times, and the groundswell of bonhomie created among the people of India and Pakistan clearly vindicate India's stand that instead of addressing the tangled Kashmir issue at the outset, it is important to introduce confidence-building measures. But the recent utterances of Pervez Musharraf that Pakistan will continue to give moral support to the Kashmiri freedom movement are unfortunate as they can derail the peace process.
V.V.S. Mani,
* * * Sir, The editorial, "A breakthrough cricket series" (March 26) is thought provoking. India clearly effected a breakthrough in the strained bilateral relationship. The camaraderie between the players and the crowds, on and off the field, was a healthy sign. May such feelings between the two nations grow in the days to come.
Lalgudi G. Kanakasabai,
