Vadde, Babu Mohan renominated; 9 replaced

HYDERABAD, MARCH 30. The TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has replaced nine members of the dissolved House and renominated three Ministers in the fourth list of candidates for the Assembly elections.

A notable omission from the list was M.V. Krishna Rao, who officiated as panel Speaker throughout the term of the 11th Assembly. He has been replaced in Ichapuram by a rank newcomer, D. Ekambari Devi.

The other eight ex-MLAs dropped are K. Revathipati (Tekkali), M. V. V. Satyanarayana (Chintapalli - ST), K. Atchamamba (Burugupudi), P. Anantha Laxmi (Sampara), V. Srinivasa Rao (Polavaram - ST), Anne Vijaylakshmi (Vuyyur), K. Pushpaleela (Ibrahimpatnam - SC) and B. Sanjeeva Rao (Gajwel - SC).

In all, 19 new faces were given ticket in the list of 27 candidates released in the wee hours of Tuesday by the TDP spokesperson, Ummareddy Venkateswarulu, after a meeting of the Politburo at Mr. Naidu's residence.

After much deliberation, the party finally decided to re-nominate Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao (Mylavaram), P. Babu Mohan (Andole- SC) and N. Narasimha Rao (Bandar). The candidature of these Ministers was considered doubtful till the last moment.

Three other members of the dissolved house — Gadde Babu Rao

(Cheepurupalli), Kondabala Koteswara Rao (Madhira) and G. Sayanna (Secunderabad-cantonment) — were also renominated.

Former CPI MP, Sode Ramaiah, who joined the TDP a few days ago, was fielded from Bhadrachalam constituency, while another ex-MP, G. Sukhender Reddy, was shifted to the Nalgonda Assembly constituency.

The TDP which got the Malakpet constituency in the seat allotment accord with the BJP has fielded Manchireddy Kishen Reddy there.

The seat was won by the State BJP president, N. Indrasena Reddy, in 1999. Somavarapu Satyanarayana, Ramagundem Municipal Chairman, who recently quit the Congress to join the TDP, will contest from the Manthani Assembly constituency.

Sayanna, Gajwel (SC): Nandi Durgaiah, Zaheerabad: C. Baganna, Andole (SC): Babu Mohan, Ramayampet: Vani, Nirmal: V.
