CUDDAPAH, MARCH 30. People's War naxalites blasted the house of the Galiveedu mandal parishad president, Avula Venkatanarayana Reddy of the Telugu Desam Party, in Perampalle panchayat headquarters in Galiveedu mandal around Monday midnight. Seven armed naxalites, including two women, stormed the MPP's house, enquired about him and tried to attack his brother and sarpanch, A. Srinivasulu Reddy, mistaking him to be the mandal president. However, he revealed his identity by producing his identity card, according to the police. Thereupon the naxals sent him, his wife, children and mother out and blasted the house in Perampalle, about four km from the Galiveedu police station. Mr. Venkatanarayana Reddy recently resigned from the TDP owing to naxal threat, but continued to hold the mandal parishad president post and participating in canvassing along with the former Lakkireddipalle MLA, R. Ramesh Kumar Reddy, police said. The naxals allegedly told Mr. Srinivasulu Reddy that they were blasting the house as the MPP continued to participate in electioneering despite their warning.
