Electronic tea trading in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: To carry a step forward its commitment to electronic tea trading, the Tea Board is all set to roll out the pilot run of electronic auction in Coimbatore and Guwahati in a month.

Speaking to mediapersons in Coimbatore here on Tuesday, Vikram Kapur, Executive Director of Tea Board, Coonoor, said that fine-tuning of the software was in progress. "Hardware is already in place at both the centres. Due to the complexities involved in software, there was some slippage during the test run at both the centres," he said. A dedicated agency had been entrusted with the responsibility, along with adequate resources and manpower to rectify the problems in software. "We are closely monitoring the developments so as to roll out the electronic auction at Coimbatore and Guwahati soon," he added. Mr.Vikram Kapur was here to preside over a training programme for Labour Department officers organised by the Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies.
