KOZHIKODE, MARCH 30. The Speaker, Vakkom Purushothaman, today opined that winnability should be the sole criteria for the selection of the Congress candidates for the Lok Sabha elections from the State. "Group considerations should not influence the candidates' selection. Winnability should be the sole criteria. It had been the critical factor in the selection of candidates in the past. I think it should continue to be so, '' Mr. Purushothaman told mediapersons at the Government Guest House here today. The Speaker also said that all loyal Congressmen should avoid making controversial statements. Mr. Purushothaman also expressed the view that there was no substance in the allegations being raised about the eligibility of the business magnate, P.V. Abdul Wahab, in becoming a Member of Rajya Sabha.
