BANGALORE, MARCH 30. The Venkataraman Committee, which is overseeing professional college admissions, is learnt to have cleared the postgraduate entrance test conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K) in February. The consortium is likely to announce the dates for its entrance test for undergraduate courses. The parallel Common Entrance Test (CET), to be held on all-India basis, was tentatively scheduled for May 15 and 16, two days before the State CET. The committee has reportedly approved the merit lists submitted by medical and dental colleges, and allowed them to go ahead with their postgraduate admission process including counselling. However, colleges which have not submitted the merit lists so far will not be allowed to proceed with their admission process without the approval of the committee, it is learnt. It has been suggested that medical and dental colleges hold their counselling process on a common platform at a specified place and time, for the convenience of students and their parents. Individual colleges have scheduled counselling at their campuses situated in different parts of the State. Students have complained that this will pose problems and it will not be possible for them to attend counselling at each college.
