The police said Mr. Ananathapadmanabha woke up around 4.30 a.m. and found that the cylinder was leaking. He tried to replace the tube connecting the cylinder to the stove. However, the leakage did not stop and the cylinder exploded after some time. The kitchen wall was damaged in the blast. A Hoysala police squad rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to the Victoria Hospital. The J.P. Nagar police have taken up a case. Fire accident: Goods worth over Rs. 1 lakh were destroyed in a fire which broke out at a gum factory at Pattegarpalya in the Vijayanagar police station limits on Tuesday morning. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot to put out the flames. The fire was caused by a short circuit, the police said. Cheating charge: The Chickpet police have taken up a case against Mohammed Fayil and Shakeel on the charge of cheating 25 youths by promising them jobs in Saudi Arabia. The police said that the two accused had opened an office on Avenue Road Cross and collected about Rs. 50,000 from some persons. Fayil allegedly took 25 youths to Mumbai and said he would arrange for them air tickets to Saudi Arabia. However, he failed to do so, the police said. Quoting a complaint from Liaqat Ali of J.C. Road, the police said Shakeel allegedly closed down the office. Body found: The body of a 65-year-old woman was found near a railway bridge in the Malleswaram police station limits on Tuesday. She could not be identified. The body was shifted to the Victoria Hospital mortuary. Ganja seized: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bangalore city police arrested Nazeer (58) of Old Guddadahalli for allegedly selling ganja on 3rd Cross, J.C. Nagar, on Monday. The police reportedly seized three kg. of ganja and Rs. 200 in cash from the accused. Sentenced: The Special Judge for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) cases, B.A. Patil, on Tuesday sentenced a former official of Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. and another person to rigorous imprisonment for three years and imposed on them a fine of Rs. 10,000 each for defrauding the company.
