Canara Bank launches e-kisan credit card

BANGALORE,
MARCH 31.
Canara Bank has launched an e-kisan credit card, an ATM-enabled card for farmers on a pilot basis, at its Tavarekere branch in Bangalore Rural district.
Farmers can use the card at any networked ATM of the bank. The kisan credit card scheme with short- and medium-term credit facility was started by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) four years ago. The scheme roped in 50 lakh farmers in the first year of operation.
Canara Bank has issued 11.97 lakh kisan credit cards with a credit limit aggregating Rs. 3,000 crore. The bank aims at making more ATMs available to kisan credit card holders.
