Shashidhar Reddy confident of victory

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, MARCH 31. The former Minister and the senior Congress leader, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, filed his nomination papers for the Sanathnagar Assembly constituency on Wednesday morning.

Accompanied by hundreds of followers, he reached the Municipal Corporation's office in Secunderabad and filed his papers with M. Subramanyam, the Returning Officer.

Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Reddy said that his victory was a foregone conclusion given the poor performance of the previous MLA, Sripathi Rajeshwar. He said the indifference of Mr. Rajeshwar towards the constituency could be gauged from the fact that only Rs. 24 lakhs was spent in the constituency from the Rs. 7 crores funds available under the MPLAD scheme.

He criticised the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for allegedly misleading the people on the Krishna water.

"They claim of water flowing into the city in a few days but the fact is that they are yet to construct the sub-stations.

How will the water be pumped," he asked. "The Ministers should have concentrated more on the project than getting themselves photographed," he said adding that he would soon come out with all the details on the Krishna water project and how the Government was misleading the people.
