Washington: Law and drug enforcement authorities in the United States and Canada have reportedly busted a drug ring that smuggled at least 15 per cent of Ecstasy into the North American markets. Arrests and criminal charges have been served on at least 170 persons in the U.S. Arrest warrants were also issued in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa in Canada. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the two-year investigation has resulted in the arrests of those from the very top to the couriers. According to court documents reported in the media, authorities in Canada and the U.S. had targeted the organisation run largely by people of Asian origin and identified the two ringleaders. The Asian organisation had started manufacturing the pills in North America on a large scale. The arrests in the United States were spread over 16 cities including Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Jacksonville (Florida), Des Moines (Iowa) and Minneapolis.
