The IIM issue

Sir, — It looks like the HRD Ministry, for saffronising education on the one hand, and effecting bureaucratic control over the IIMs, on the other, is bent upon invading their autonomy. The only way out is for the faculty, with the help of leading corporates, to set up independent institutions embodying the IIM culture and expertise.

Sir, — Exaggerating the importance of certain professional courses appears to be a periodical occurrence in India. First it was engineering, then medicine and now it is management. It is time the bloated bubble of MBA was pricked and its real worth exposed.
