PONDICHERRY, APRIL 1. A five-day training programme for surgeons organised by the Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India began here yesterday. The training would equip the surgeons with hands-on exposure in colon-rectal surgical procedures. They would be permitted to take up a fellowship examination conducted by the association. After passing the test, the surgeons would be inducted into the association. The head of the Department of Surgery, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) at Kalapet, Srinivasan, and the medical superintendent, Government General Hospital, and head of the Department of Surgery, Dilip Kumar Baliga, are conducting the training programme at PIMS.
