Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, APRIL 1. The president of the Pondicherry State committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), R. Kesavalu, today said the party was considering serving a lawyer notice on the Pradesh Congress Committee president, V. Narayanasamy, for his comments against the BJP nominee for the Lok Sabha election, Lalitha Kumaramangalam. Mr. Narayanasamy had described her as an outsider and that she would have no interest in ameliorating the lot of the people of Pondicherry, if elected. Such comments breached the model code of conduct, Mr. Kesavalu told newsmen here. Referring to the statement of Mr. Narayanasamy that he would seek revocation of recognition of the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the BJP by the Election Commission in the backdrop of alleged comments of leaders of the two parties against the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, on her nationality, Mr. Kesavalu said the BJP had always taken the stand that Ms. Gandhi was not an Indian by birth. He thanked the Rajnikant Rasikar Mandrams' members for their support to the BJP-AIADMK combine to defeat the Pattali Makkal Katchi. He said the Union Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, would campaign in Pondicherry in support of the party nominee and address a meeting organised in connection with the celebrations of the ``Foundation Day'' of the party on April 6. The BJP would accord a rousing reception to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, who will address a public meeting in Anna Thidal here on April 7.
