Woman kills kids, commits suicide

JAMMU, APRIL 1. In a shocking incident, a woman killed her three children and committed suicide later at her residence in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir last night, official sources said.

Driven by poverty, 35-year-old Sharifa Begum first took her nine-year-old child Khalil Ahmed to a room in their house in border village of Tarra in Poonch district and slit his throat, they said.

She then gave poison to her two daughters, five-year-old Taslima and two-year-old Munni, they added.

Sharifa later jumped from a hilltop and died, the sources said adding that the bodies have been recovered by the police.

The husband of the woman was not present in the house at the time of the incident, they said.
