NEW DELHI, APRIL 1. Hoping to provide a platform for different players in the health care sector, including allopathic, ayurvedic, unani, siddha and homoeopathy practitioners, the Capital is playing host to the 4th International Health Care and Herbal Expo 2004, beginning Friday. At the two-day expo, there will be sessions on integrated holistic medicine, modern science and an interface on affordable health care. Promotion of India as a health care destination will also be in sharp focus. "The ideal situation would be an integrated holistic medical service system which assimilates the valuable knowledge of different systems so that patients benefit optimally. It is the duty of not only the government and the non-government organisations but also the medical service industry to see that an integrated holistic health care system is in place which we hope the expo would be able to achieve,'' said the organisers. The conference will also focus on the relevant issues of health insurance, patents and legal issues besides the role of farmers in terms of growing medicinal plants. Among the participants will be major research institutes including the Department of Biotechnology, which will also showcase technologies they have developed for the herbal sector. Nearly 75 companies are participating in the exhibition which includes all leading brands like Dabur, Zandu, Shahnaz Husain and Himalaya. The exhibition will also have participation from Korea and Pakistan.
