NEW DELHI, APRIL 1. The 33rd Independence and National Day of Bangladesh was celebrated by its mission here in the Capital earlier this week. On the occasion, the High Commissioner, Hemayetuddin, paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and remembered those who lost their lives during the freedom struggle. Messages by the country's President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were read out and a special 15-minute documentary titled "Bangladesh: A Land of Beauty" was screened. Besides introducing people to the sights and sounds of the country, the evening also gave the guests an opportunity to taste authentic Bangladeshi cuisine. A large number of diplomats, academics and politicians attended the reception hosted by the High Commissioner in the evening.
