Fake documents racket busted

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, APRIL 1. A racket in the printing and selling of forged government documents like Kisan Vikas Patras, Indira Vikas Patras and stamp papers has been busted by the West Delhi police. One person has been arrested in this connection and fake documents worth Rs. 1 crore have been recovered from the accused.

According to the police, the Anti-Snatching Cell of the West Delhi had got a tip-off about a man selling fake government documents from his hideout at Paschim Vihar. Constable Somdutt was sent to strike a deal with him at his residence. Somdutt told the suspect, later identified as Jagdish (44), that he wanted to buy two fake Kisan Vikas Patras worth Rs. 1,000 each and paid Rs. 500 in advance. Jagdish asked Somdutt to meet him near district park, Paschim Vihar, on Wednesday around 5 p.m. Jagdish was arrested when he came to deliver the fake documents to Somdutt.

The police recovered fake Kisan Vikas Patras, Indira Vikas Patras, postal stamps, notary tickets, pay order, income tax refund order, Sales Tax (form-C) and special adhesive tickets from his hideout. Computers, scanners, printers and other stationery were also recovered from him.

Interrogation of the accused revealed that he had been selling the fake documents in Delhi as well in other neighbouring States with the help of his associates and other middlemen.

In 1997, Jagdish entered the business of printing press at Rohini in North-West Delhi in partnership with others. It was during the course of this business that they learned the tricks of forgery.

Further investigations are on to trace the associates of the accused.

Auto-lifters in police net

Seven people who allegedly stole motorcycles from different parts of the Capital to sell them off in Uttar Pradesh have been arrested by the Operation Cell of the North-West Delhi police. Eight motorcycles have been recovered from their possession.

All the accused have been arrested and booked for their involvement in auto-lifting.
