Doctor held for alleged rape

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, APRIL 1. A 19-year-old girl was allegedly criminally assaulted by a 52-year-old homoeopathic doctor when she came to his clinic at Anand Vihar in East Delhi for some medicines on Wednesday evening.

According to the police, the girl, who worked as a receptionist in a private hospital at Vivek Vihar, had come to the clinic of Laxmi Narayan Aggarwal at B-Block in Suraj Mal Vihar around 3 p.m. She asked Dr. Aggarwal to give her some medicines as she was not feeling well. However, the doctor allegedly gave her some kind of anaesthesia. She fell unconscious and when she woke up in the evening, she realised that she had been criminally assaulted.

The victim then went to the Anand Vihar police station and narrated the whole incident. A case was registered and the doctor was arrested today.

Investigations revealed that the doctor was also a consultant with the hospital in which the girl used to work. On Wednesday, Dr. Aggarwal had left the hospital around 1-30 p.m. and about an hour-and-a-half later, the girl came to his clinic. It was not, however, clear what ailment the girl was suffering from or whether the doctor had asked her to come to his clinic for the medicine.
