Yogesh, Settu in semifinals

BANGALORE, APRIL 2. The top two seeds, Yogesh Shah of Gujarat and S. Settu of Tamil Nadu, entered the 45 and above singles semifinals of the Indian Oil Servo veterans invitation tennis championship at the Century Club courts here on Friday.

Settu defeated seventh seed C.B. Ramachandnra of Karnataka 6-2, 6-0 while Yogesh beat M. Ramesh of Kerala 6-4, 6-2. The other qualifiers were V.T. Ranganathan and Ram Mohan Rao. Yogesh also made it to the doubles semifinals. Partnering K.R. Raman of AP he beat Kishore and Ashok of AP 5-7, 7-6 (10-8), 6-1.

In the above 55 section top seed, C.S. Rajan of Karnataka, stopped wild card J. Cherian of Kerala 6-3, 6-3 while second seed Mubarak of Tamil Nadu beat H.S. Sarma of AP 6-3, 6-1.

+55 singles: C.S. Rajan (Kar) bt J. Cherian (Kar) 6-3, 6-3; S. Parekh (Mah) bt N. Ramesh (Kar) 6-1, 6-1; A. Mubarak (TN) bt H.S. Sarma (AP) 6-3, 6-1; D. Gururaj (Kar) bt Madan Mohan Singh (AP) 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
