MADURAI, APRIL 2. Following a `mix-up' in the distribution of Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination question papers to students at a school here on Thursday, the Education department will hold a review meeting in the city on Sunday for examination staff from Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts. All chief superintendents and Education department officers from have been asked to attend the meeting, which would be chaired by K. Ilangovan, Joint Director, Government Examinations. The meeting assumes significance in the wake of suspension of three officials on supervision duty for wrong distribution of Tamil question papers among SSLC and Matriculation students here yesterday. The meeting would take stock of the conduct of the SSLC and Matriculation examinations and suggest ways to avoid hiccups. A senior Education department official said officials from Chennai would issue instructions on the smooth conduct of the examinations. Headmasters, designated chief superintendents of examinations centres, would participate. About 260 persons from Madurai and Theni districts, 220 from Dindigul and Theni districts and 220 from Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts would attend the meeting. The Chief Educational Officer, T. Kanna Kalyanasundaram, said that no complaints of malpractice were received today during the Tamil-II examination. On Thursday, four students were caught by flying squads for `impersonation' in the Tamil-I examination and action was initiated.
