PONDICHERRY, APRIL 3. The Association of Welfare of Scheduled Caste Employees today protested against the Communist Party of India (Marxist) criticising the Lieutenant Governor, N.N. Jha, for holding a party in the Raj Nivas in which the Bharathiya Janata Party nominee, Lalitha Kumaramangalam, was allegedly present. The president, V. Ramalingam, and the honorary president, M.S. Kaliaperumal, said in a statement today that Mr. Jha was a senior and experienced person. Everyone knew his concern for the welfare of the downtrodden. Merely because he greeted a visitor who came to the Raj Nivas by chance had been blown out of proportions. There were several issues concerning the lot of the downtrodden over which there was hardly any voice of concern. Mr. Jha was accessible to any one and it should not be faulted, they said.
