HYDERABAD, APRIL 3. The Minister for Women Welfare, Somineni Saraswathi, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly from the Koduru (SC) in Cuddapah district, was dropped from the eighth list of candidates announced by the Telugu Desam Party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Saturday. In her place, the name of a rank newcomer, Nandavaram Ajay Babu, was announced. He is an English lecturer in a private college in Pullampet and a native of Renigunta in Chittoor district. Following the party's official announcement, it is learnt that Mrs. Saraswathi threatened to resign from the party. Amidst rumours that the Congress will welcome her and allot her the ticket from the same constituency, she is said to have been summoned for talks by senior party leaders. As the talks were said to be going on, the name for the Koduru Assembly seat was put on hold. Of the seven other constituencies, six were held by the TDP and one, Kuchinapudi, was held by the Congress. The seven names announced by the TDP include three members in the dissolved Assembly - Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kakinada), B.Ch. Garataiah (Parchur) and N. Swami Dass (Tiruvuru) and four new faces - Beera Satyakumari (Mummidivaram), Peethala Mahalaxmi (Achanta), U. Kalpana (Nidumolu) and Sankara Rao (Kuchinapudi).
