Drought: Naidu to seek code relaxation

By Our Staff Reporter

SINGARAYAKONDA (PRAKASAM DT.), APRIL 3. The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, is contemplating writing a letter to the Election Commission requesting it to relax the code to mitigate miseries of farmers due to a long dry spell.

He announced this at an election meeting here on Saturday apparently keeping in view chilli farmers ransacking marketyards in Warangal and Guntur on Friday demanding remunerative price to their produce.

Mr. Naidu said that certain problems were coming in the way to rescue the farmers who had been in distress due to falling prices on the election eve. As it mentioned in the Telugu Desam election manifesto if the party romped home it would lay special emphasis on agriculture and rural development. Schemes benefiting farmers and coolies and strengthening rural economy would be implemented with an outlay of Rs. 60,000 crores, he said.
