By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, APRIL 3. Over 140 stolen television sets have been recovered from a godown at Alipur here by a special team of the North Delhi police. One person has been arrested.

During a routine check at Inderlok, the police tried to intercept a Maruti car being driven by one Vakil Ahmed. The driver stopped the car, came out and tried to flee. Suspecting that something was wrong, the policemen gave a chase during which Head Constable, Jagbir Singh, got one of his fingers fractured.

Vakil, a resident of Abu Fazal Enclave in South Delhi, was finally overpowered. During interrogation, he disclosed that the television sets had been stolen from a canter tempo. He further revealed that one Siraj, a resident of Turkman Gate, had brought 141 television sets in his canter tempo to stock them in an Alipur godown. At his instance, the police mounted a raid and recovered rest of the television sets.

Investigations revealed that Vakil had earlier been arrested at Karol Bagh, Ambedkar Nagar, Panipat and Sonipat. Further investigations into the matter are on.
