Antony writes to Jayalalithaa
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
APRIL 3.
The Chief Minister, A. K. Antony, has written to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa, seeking release of dead storage from the Parambikulam dam for irrigation and drinking water supply in Palakkad district.
Mr. Antony, in his message, said that 1,000 million cubic feet (tmc) of water should be released urgently from the dam to meet irrigation and drinking water needs of the district, which was facing acute drought.
He proposed that dead storage should be pumped and brought to the Moolathara regulator through the Manacadavu weir.
Kerala was willing to bear the costs for this.
