UDF to kick start campaign on April 7

KOCHI, APRIL 3. The UDF leaders in the Ernakulam Parliamentary constituency today decided to kick off its election campaign from April 7.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the UDF leaders today. The meeting was of the opinion that the Congress should catch up with the LDF campaign. The electioneering would start off with a huge convention to be held on April 7 at the Ernakulam Town Hall.

The senior Congress leader, K. Karunakaran, the UDF convener, Oommen Chandy, and other leaders are expected to participate in the convention. Besides, 50,000 UDF activists would attend the convention, according to K. P. Dhanapalan, president, Ernakulam District Congress Committee. Election meetings would be held in the Tripunithura, Njarackal, and Paravoor Assembly constituencies on April 12 while conventions in Palluruthy, Mattanchery and Aluva would be held on April 15.The panchayat-level campaign meetings would be held on April 17 and 18 and booth levels on April 19 and 20.
