TDP's promise to Muslims on quota

HYDERABAD, APRIL 3. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesman, C. Ramachandraiah, on Friday assured Muslim leaders that the TDP would provide reservation to Muslims shortly.

Speaking to leaders representing the community at a meeting convened by the Higher Education Minister, N.Md. Farooq, at his residence here, Mr. Ramachandraiah clarified on various issues, including the Common Civil Code and the Babri Masjid dispute, stating that the issues could be solved through consensus and court verdict.

He further added that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not over-ride the NDA agenda as long as the TDP was part of it. The party spokesman also assured that a meeting would be convened with the Chief Minister. N. Chandrababu Naidu, to solve the problems raised by the leaders, a press release said.
