64 candidates file papers

HYDERABAD, APRIL 3. The rejections and withdrawals out of the nominations of the Phase I polling reached 238 for Assembly and Parliament constituencies on Saturday with more additions made to the list.

For the day, there were 15 rejections/withdrawals of the Assembly nominations and three out of the Lok Sabha ones. Election officials said, all the rejections or withdrawals so far related to independents or dummy candidates of political parties.

Meanwhile, 64 candidates filed nominations for 56 Assembly constituencies of the Phase II polling today and 14 others for nine Parliamentary seats.

Prominent among those who filed the papers for the Assembly were N. Siva Prasad of Telugu Desam, a former Minister, for Satyavedu (SC), P. Sivan of Congress for Kuppam, the constituency of the Chief Minister, J. Ramamohana Rao, Congress for Kadiam, and G. Jhansilakshmi, Telugu Desam for Rajahmundry.
