NEW DELHI, APRIL 3. A head constable, who was allegedly involved in the sensational Madipur case in which some police personnel had allegedly beaten a man to death in West Delhi last October, was arrested by the Crime Branch on Friday. More arrests in the case are likely. The police said while Head Constable Kesar Singh has been arrested on the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, other police personnel found involved in the case would be arrested soon. The incident took place in October when on a tip-off that gambling was going on in the area, the in-charge of Madipur police post, Sub-Inspector Rajbir Singh, along with his team - Head Constable Kesar Singh, Constables Rohtash, Jaiprakash and Robin Singh - reached the spot. However, those indulging in gambling fled the spot. Suspecting that one Sushil Kumar had tipped them of, the police rounded him up. He was taken to the Madipur police post and was allegedly tortured. Sushil's relatives alleged that he was found in an unconscious state near his house, after which he was rushed to Agrasen Hospital where he was declared dead after a while. Later, the post mortem indicated that he must have died due to cardiac arrest, which might occur due to due to physical torture.
