Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, APRIL 4. Members of the Students Federation of India (SFI) here will make use of modern technology to seek votes for the nominee sponsored by the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in the Lok Sabha poll here. The Pattali Makkal Katchi, a constituent of the DPA, has nominated M. Ramadoss, a professor in the Pondicherry University, for the Pondicherry seat. The SFI, in a resolution adopted at a meeting here yesterday, said volunteers would send short messaging service (SMS) and e-mails to seek the support. The meeting expressed concern at lack of proper policies on the part of the Bhratiya Janata Party-led Central Government to ameliorate the lot of the youth. Students should play a key role in defeating the BJP-All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam combine. A resolution appealed to the voters, particularly the students, to back the DPA nominee. The meeting wanted action taken against the Lieutenant Governor, N.N. Jha, for his `code violation'.
