Drop in humidity

The Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 37.2 degree Celsius and a minimum of 26 degree Celsius, on Sunday. Humidity dropped from 72 per cent in the morning to 59 per cent in the evening.

Pulse polio campaign

The Krishna district Collector, K. Prabhakar Reddy, formally launched the Pulse Polio drive by administering polio drops to a kid at the Patamata Boys High School, on Sunday. A total of 2,496 pulse polio centres have been set up across the district.

Book released

The Telugu film personality, Mikkilineni Radhakrishna Murthy, on Sunday, released Andhra Kala Darshini, a book depicting the lives of artistes and sculptors in the State. Addressing a meeting at the TANA Foundation Child Line hall at Hanumanpet here, he said such works would help preserve the folk arts of the State.

Mahayaagam

Sree Sundara Hanumana Dharmika Parishad will launch a 21-day Ati Rudriya Mahayaagam, on Monday, on the premises of the Panchamukha Veeranjaneya Swamy temple at Kothur Tadepalli. The 21-day puja includes Rudra homam, Ganapathi Dattatreya homam, Navagraha jana homam, Sundarakanda homam, Arunaparayanam and Surya namaskaramulu.

Palm Sunday

Christians in the city observed Palm Sunday with religious fervour. Addressing a Sunday mass at the Arogyamatha Church in Kankipadu, the parish priest, Rev. U. Bala Shoury Reddy, said Palm Sunday was the first day of the holy week preceding Easter. Christians all over the world observe fast for 40 days in a row the period is marked by charitable acts, he explained.
