This Day That Age
A Labour Member of Parliament claimed in Huddersfield on April 5 that a recent meeting of the Parliamentary Conservative Party had decided that Sir Winston Churchill would retire soon after the Queen's return from her Commonwealth tour. It had also been decided that the Prime Minister would nominate Mr. Anthony Eden as his successor, Mr. Joseph Mallaliu said. Mr. Eden would hold office for some months before holding a general election, planned for October. "These are not speculations. They are decisions. They may be altered at any time but at the moment that is the position", Mr. Mallaliu declared.
