This Day That Age
The Indian Foreign Secretary presented a note to the French Ambassador in Delhi on April 3 drawing his attention to the serious situation arising out of the posting of French police near the Indian Consulate-General in Pondicherry, the assault on a member of the Indian Consulate-General and the throwing of stones on the library of the Consulate-General. It has been pointed out that the actual conduct of the French police officers on duty near the Consulate leaves no doubt that their presence there is not for the protection of the Consulate, but to harass and intimidate the visitors to the Consulate.
