Hindutva & secularism

Sir, — Mr. Advani reminded the nation during his yatra at Porbander that Ram was the last world on the Mahatma's lips before he fell to the assassin's bullets. The Hindutva forces are trying to add strength by adding Gandhi's name to their agenda of Ram temple.

What moral right do these forces have after accomplishing the task of unveiling the portrait of V.D. Savarkar, who was accused, tried in Gandhiji's assassination case and released only on benefit of doubt, in the Central Hall of Parliament?

V. Kumaresan,
Madurai, T.N.

Sir, — Mr. Advani is trying to equate Hinduism and Hindutva. Hindutva is a concept that has been propagated by the BJP and other Sangh outfits with the sole objective of capturing political power using Hinduism.

R. Nagarajan,
Bangalore
