Varun against persons of foreign origin becoming PM
PUNE,
APRIL 5.
Persons of foreign origin should not occupy high Constitutional posts, including that of Prime Minister, as it was a matter of ``national security and respecting people's wishes'', the BJP's star campaigner Varun Gandhi said here today.
Clarifying that he was not specifically referring to his aunt and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he said ``it is a matter of political ideology and philosophy that people of foreign origin should not occupy high posts''.
Asked if he experienced conflicting emotions when he opposed Ms. Gandhi in politics, Mr. Varun said ``relationship is on one side and politics on the other. In politics there is room for differences but not for hatred.''
