64 injured in grenade attack on J&K market

SRINAGAR, APRIL 5. At least 64 people, including women, children and three jawans of the Border Security Force were injured and 14 of them are in a critical condition when militants exploded a grenade in a crowded market in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir today.

Witnesses said the militants hurled the grenade at a BSF vehicle in Shaheedi Park area in Pulwama around 1 p.m. today. The grenade missed the target and exploded on the road causing injuries to civilians. The injured were admitted to sub-district hospital and the seriously injured referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment. Police said the militants escaped after the explosion.

Police and paramilitary force officials rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

No militant outfit has owned responsibility for the attack.
