Chandana lines up a treble

BANGALORE, APRIL 5. GE's Chandana is in line for a treble crown in the Ventures conducted corporate badminton tournament at the KBA-Raheja courts. The finals are slated for April 11.

Chandana first made short work of Megha (Siemens) 11-1, 11-2 in the women's singles semifinals and then partnering Priyanka raced to a 21-5 win over Fasiha & Sushmitha of DSL.

Later on in the company of Anshuman, Chandana made it a really glorious day romping through to the mixed doubles final with a 21-8 win over Ronita & Harish of Symphony.

Rishi of Oracle too had a profitable day at the courts.

In the team championship final, Oracle India will clash with Symphony Services for the title. While Oracle downed Sasken 2-1, Symphony blanked Siemens Communications 2-0.

Men's singles: Semifinals: Anshuman (GE) bt Sajeev (Sasken) 21-10. Quarterfinals: Rishi (Oracle) bt Samarth (Philips) 21-5; Sajeev (Sasken) bt Karthik (Aditi) 21-16; Nitin (Sasken) bt Shelly (Siemens) 21-9.

Men's doubles (semifinals): Rishi (Oracle) & Harish (Symphony) bt Nitin (Sasken) & Rajendra (HP) 15-6, 15-5; Vivek (TCS) & Anshuman (GE) bt Karthik (Aditi) & Sajeev (Sasken) 15-9, 15-8.

Women's singles (semifinals): Chandana (GE) bt Megha (Siemens) 11-1, 11-2; Smitha Rao (Thomson) bt Sucharita (AXA Business) 11-1, 11-1.

Women's doubles (semifinals): Chandana & Priyanka (GE) bt Fasiha & Sushmitha (DSL) 21-5; Sucharitha & Neha (AXA) bt Smitha Rao & Sarojini (Thomson) 21-12.

Mixed doubles (semifinals): Chandana & Anshuman (GE) bt Ronita & Harish (Symphony) 21-8; Poornima & Rishi (Oracle) bt Sucharita & Gokul (AXA) 21-16.

Team championship (semifinals): Oracle bt Sasken 2-1 (Bobby lost to Nitin 4-15, 3-15; Rishi & Dinakar bt Nitin & Vivek 15-12, 15-6; Rishi bt Sajeev 15-4, 15-4); Symphony Services bt Siemens Com. 2-0 (Amardeep bt Swaroop 13-15, 17-14, 15-3; Amardeep & Harish bt Swaroop & Dipanjan 15-7, 15-4).
