Religious fervour marks car festival at T. Narispura

By Our Staff Correspondent

MYSORE, APRIL 5. Religious fervour marked the Brahmarathothsava of Sri Gunjam Narasimhaswamy Temple at T. Narsipura on Monday.

The car festival commenced at noon as the priests chanted the sacred hymns in the presence of a large gathering.

Cultural troupes from the neighbouring taluks added a dash of colour to the festival, which was attended by village elders and prominent persons of the taluk.

The ratha passed through Vishwakarma Road and Old Primary School Road before coming to a halt in front of the ancient temple.

Members of voluntary organisations served "majjige" and "paanka" to the devotees, who assembled in thousands to witness the event.

Earlier in the day, the "Utsava Murthy" was taken out along the procession route with people offering prayers.

The temple town came alive as pilgrims arrived here for the car festival from different parts of the State.

The series of religious events being held since the last week included Garudothsava held on Saturday.

Tomorrow's programmes include Dolothsava, Shayanothsava, and Tirunalakatla Utsava, according to the temple authorities.
