KOTTAYAM, APRIL 6. Three persons have been taken into custody by the Kumily police in connection with the incident in which a petrol bunk manager was hacked and robbed of Rs. 4.30 lakhs here on Monday noon. According to the police, the three have been identified as Michael (29) of Kozhukkullil House, Anthinadu, Thrissur, his brother, Benson and Thomas of Kumily, whom police believe was an accomplice. The police have seized the stolen cash from the accused. The two brothers, who had sped away from the scene of crime, went all the way to Kumily and had checked into a lodge on Monday evening. One of them was seriously injured. Later, they changed to a room with telephone facility. During shifting, they forgot to take the original number plate of their bike. The lodge employees informed the police and the three were taken into custody this morning. They suspected that Thomas had joined the two brothers at Kumily, they said.
