Rain likely in South CHENNAI, APRIL 6. Rainfall occurred at many places over Kerala and at a few places over south interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and north interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over coastal Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep. The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are: Kunnamkulam (Thrissur dt.) 6, Chalakudi (Thrissur dt.) 5, Kozhikode Airport, T.N. Pura (Mysore dt.) and Yellandu (Khammam dt.) 4 each, Kozhikode, Vadakara and Quilandy (both Kozhikode dt.), Chamarajanagar, Kollegal (Chamarajanagar dt.) and Halli Mysore (Hassan dt.) 3 each, Enamackel (Thrissur dt.), Thiruvananthapuram, Yelandhur (Chamarajanagar dt.), Heggadevanakote and Sargur (both Mysore dt.), Bellur (Mandya dt.), Huliyurdurga (Tumkur dt.) and Anantapur 2 each and Kannur, Aluva (Ernakulam dt.), Cheranmadevi (Thirunelveli dt.), Thuckalay (Kanyakumari dt.), Mysore, Magadi (Bangalore Rural dt.), Krishnarajupet and Srirangapatna (both Mandya dt.) and Bagamandala (Kodagu dt.) 1 each. They were markedly above normal at a few places over coastal Karnataka, appreciably above normal at a few places over Tamil Nadu, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, at one or two places over Kerala, above normal at a few places over rest Tamil Nadu, at one or two places over Telangana, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, rest coastal Karnataka, appreciably below normal at one or two places over north interior Karnataka, below normal at one or two places over Rayalaseema, and south interior Karnatakaand were generally normal over rest of the region. FORECAST (Valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Kerala, south interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema and isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Lakshadweep, and Telangana.
