Former MLA's men go on the rampage

By Our Staff Reporter

KURNOOL, APRIL 6. Supporters of the former Adoni MLA, Meenakshi Naidu, went on the rampage at Adoni today following reports that the TDP was nominating a woman belonging to the Valmiki community in the place of their leader.

The mob set on fire a Government jeep, broke the glass panes of three RTC buses, the vehicle of the Returning Officer, M. Rama Rao, threw stones at the guest house, damaged street lights and tried to destroy the records in the Mandal Revenue Office.

Reports said, the supporters of Mr. Naidu got angry following news that their leader had been denied the ticket.

Led by Mr. Naidu's brothers — Venkatramudu and Umapathi — and his cousin, Rangaswamy, they burnt the jeep of the Rural Water Supply (RWS) Department, tore the posters of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and party banners.

The publicity material of the party was also set ablaze. Later, the supporters attacked RTC buses.

A flag post of the TDP was smashed. On seeing the rampaging mob, many businessmen closed their shops.
