HYDERABAD, APRIL 6. At least four wife and husband couples are in the fray for the coming elections in the State. Interestingly, in all the four cases, one of the spouses is contesting for the Assembly and the other for the Lok Sabha. The most prominent among the political pairs are the former Chief Minister, Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy, and his wife, N. Rajyalakshmi. Having changed his constituency once again, Mr. Reddy is testing his popularity in Visakhapatnam (Lok Sabha) on Congress ticket while his wife is seeking re-election for the Venkatagiri Assembly seat. Bhooma Nagi Reddy and his wife, Shobha, have swapped their seats this time round. Mr. Nagi Reddy is contesting from the Allagadda Assembly constituency and his wife is the Telugu Desam nominee for the Nandyal Lok Sabha seat, which was once represented by the former Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao. Making her political debut, D. Purandareswari, daughter of late N.T. Rama Rao, is contesting for Parliament from Bapatla on Congress ticket. Her husband, Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, after a lay-off from politics for some time, is on a comeback trail by seeking re-election from Parchur Assembly constituency in Prakasam district. Although he was only one of the five Congress MPs from the State, Botsa Satyanarayana has decided to contest from the Cheepurapalli Assembly constituency this time after successfully prevailing over the Congress high command to field his wife, B. Jhansi Rani, for the Bobbili Lok Sabha seat held by him earlier.
