Nellore DCC chief quits

NELLORE, APRIL 6. The Congress suffered a jolt with the district party chief, C.V. Sesha Reddy, quitting his post in protest against denial of party ticket for the Sarvepalli constituency and also against the "indecent treatment'' meted out to him.

Addressing a press conference at his residence on Tuesday, Mr. Sesha Reddy, however, made it clear that he would continue to remain in the party and would take a final decision after a meeting with his followers. The meeting was in progress when reports last came in. Mr. Reddy, who became emotional several times during the press conference, referred to his long association with party (43 years) and as an MLA and DCC chief for the last 25 years. Incidentally, the Sarvepalli Assembly seat is allotted to the former Housing Minister, A. Prabhakara Reddy, who joined the Congress only recently.
