SHIMLA, APRIL 6. The Himachal Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh, today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of spreading corruption, nepotism and favouritism in the State during its five-year rule. Addressing election meetings at Siuntha and Chowari in Chamba district, he said the State Services Selection Board (SSSB) set up at Hamirpur had ignored meritorious candidates and appointed those who were close to the BJP and RSS. He claimed that the then BJP Government did not frame any rules or regulations and did not respond to objections raised by the Congress about the malfunctioning of the Board. Mr. Singh said his government was committed to maintain transparency and responsiveness for ensuring an effective and efficient administration. He said the party manifesto was being adopted as a policy document of the government and a Cabinet sub-committee had been constituted to oversee its implementation. Forest Minister Chandra Kumar who is the Congress candidate from Kangra Parliamentary constituency also spoke about the government's achievements in the past one year.
