THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 6. Keltron, despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Salim Brothers in the last match, claimed the Thiruvananthapuram district `A' division football league title with 16 points at the University stadium here on Tuesday. In fact, the winner hardly went all-out, aware that it required just one more point to take home the title. However, it looked as if it would still gain full points as Aneesh put Keltron into the lead in the 16th minute. But then, Salim Brothers fought back bravely and pulled one back through Arun in the 53rd minute to equalise. Earlier, LNCPE, which finished second with 15 points, scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Golden Eagles in its last encounter. Murmu (2) and Harish scored for the winner, with all the three goals coming early in the first session. Teekaycee FC which had completed its engagements on Monday took the third spot with 10 points, while Golden Eagles (6), Salim Brothers (5), Subash FC (5) and St. Peter's FC (2) finished in that order in the seven-team league. The chairman of the Town Planning Committee of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, Palayam Rajan, gave away the prizes.
