IT slaps notice on Tata Sons

MUMBAI, APRIL 6. The Income Tax Department has served a notice on Tata Sons Limited, the holding company of Tata Consultancy Services, to pay an additional tax of close to Rs. 100 crores citing that TCS was not eligible for certain tax benefits availed of by it.

``We have given a notice to Tata Sons for payment of additional taxes,'' IT sources said today.

When contacted, the company officials said they would seek a reassessment of the tax demand.
