The Cultural Affairs Minister, G. Karthikeyan, today visited the Amachal area in the Kattakada panchayat which suffered crop damage and power failure in the wake of heavy summer showers.

Last date for bill payment

The BSNL phone subscribers having numbers starting with 220, 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 228, 2299, 234, 235, 236, 2379, 238, 239, 243, 244, 247, 2539, 255, 257, 259, 262, 263, 273, 274, 280, 281, 282, 284, 285, 2865, 2867, 2878, 2879, 288 and 289 should pay their bills without fine up to April 8. The bills can be paid at counters at the Central Telephone Exchange, Central Telegraph Office, LIC building, Pattom and post offices with Gramit facility.

Krishna Menon research centre

Tributes were paid to the former Defence Minister, Krishna Menon, on the occasion of the inauguration of a research centre in his name here today. The Minister of State for Defence, O. Rajagopal, who inaugurated the centre, said Krishna Menon had played a key role in formulating the country's defence policy.

Distribution of vegetable seeds

The Federation of Residents Associations, Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT), has taken up a programme to distribute high yielding varieties of vegetable seeds to members. A pressnote issued by FRAT here today said the seeds would be distributed free-of-cost from the Bharatheeyam hall, North of the Manjalikulam ground, Thampanoor, on April 9 and 10.
