CUSAT union organises political debate

By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI, APRIL 6. A political debate was organised here today by the university union of the Cochin University of Science and Technology. Political leaders belonging to the three main camps - the Left, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party took part in the discussion.

The BJP State general secretary, P. K. Krishnadas, said that the party was fighting this election on the development plank. Listing the achievements of the National Democratic Alliance Government, he said that India was shining under the BJP rule. However, the Congress leader, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, MLA, said that the prime task before the electorate was to "oust the communal BJP from power". He felt that all secular parties should come together for achieving this goal.

The CPI (M) State committee member, P. Rajeev, said that the Congress and the BJP were two faces of the same coin. The spread of social and economic inequality and increase in unemployment were the results of the policies pursued by these parties, he said.
